Days after resigning from the Rajya Sabha, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati said her party would launch a State-wide programme from September 18 to protest the BJP‘s “anti-Dalit” stand.
She said “not being allowed to speak on anti-Dalit violence in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur” was the reason for her July 18 resignation and that a conference of BSP workers would be held on the 18th of every month beginning September.
Every month, party workers from two U.P. divisions would hold programmes in which she would also participate.

The programmes would continue till next June to “expose” the BJP, she said.
The BSP has been on the decline in U.P., winning just 18 seats out of 403 in the recent Assembly polls and drawing a blank in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
The BJP has, however, dubbed her resignation a “drama,” saying that her tenure in the House was anyway coming to an end in April next year.
