BSF to raise embankment along Indo-Pak border

The Border Security Force (BSF) is all set to raise a 10-metre high embankment along International Border in Jammu frontier to secure people living in border belts from Pakistan firing.

The embankment is being raised to secure people living along the (international) border and working close to the fence from falling victim to the firing from across the border at the time of tense situation, Inspector General BSF, Jammu Frontier, S.S. Tomar said on the sidelines of a function in Jammu on Monday.

He said the embankment will be 135 feet wide and 10 metre high from Akhnoor Sector to Kathua. The issue will be discussed with Pakistani Rangers also.

BSF in co-operation with the State government, will acquire the land in 122 villages along the border in Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts, he said.

He also said the overall situation along the border is normal and peaceful after October 29 flag meet.
