The BJP will be launching a door-to-door campaign in Andhra Pradesh in the next few weeks, entitled “Intintiki BJP” (BJP at every door), to counter the Telugu Desam Party’s narrative on walking out of the NDA.

BJP president Amit Shah held a review meeting with the party’s newly-appointed State unit chief Kanna Laxminarayana, national general secretaries Ram Madhav and P. Muralidhar Rao, former Union Minister Purandareshwari and Rajya Sabha MP G.V.L. Narasimha Rao in New Delhi.

With the door-to-door campaign, the BJP is hoping to move into phase three of its strategy to counter the TDP, the first being the appointment of Mr. Laxminarayana, a former Congressman who joined the party just before the 2014 polls, as the head of its State unit; and the second being the outreach to the Kapu community, considered inimical to the TDP, through the State unit president who belongs to the community.

Fund allocation

“The door-to-door campaign will especially focus on the fact that there are several Central schemes, which have been badly implemented by the State government. [We will] explain to the people that the TDP basically blames the BJP on the issue of fund allocation just to distract from the fact that there is heavy anti-incumbency against the Chandrababu Naidu government,” he said.
