BJP seeks apology from Chidambaram

December 01, 2013 11:41 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 06:44 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

The BJP has demanded an apology from Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram for his remarks on its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.

Mr. Chidambaram had taken a dig at Mr. Modi, saying that he needed lessons in economics apart from history. On Sunday, BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said Mr. Chidambaram issued a statement regarding what he thought was the speech of Mr. Modi talking about the link between gold buying and inflation and so on. “Had he only checked the speech, Mr. Chidambaram would have known that ‘ aarthiksankat’ was the exact word used and not ‘inflation’,” she said.
