The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday described the Chinese army’s recent ‘incursion’ into Indian territory as a serious issue and demanded that the government handle the issue at the level of the Prime Minister, the External Affairs Minister and the Defence Minister.
In a statement, BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar maintained that Chinese troops had “infiltrated” 10 km into the Indian territory and set up a camp in an abandoned Indian bunker near the Daulat Beg Oldie sector, which has the world’s highest air strip.
“Unfortunately, the government is not taking the issue very seriously. It is not the first time that Chinese troops have infiltrated or intruded into the Indian territory. There has been constant Chinese infiltration in Arunachal Pradesh.”

Terming the Chinese presence in Pakistan, Nepal, Myanmar, Maldives and Sri Lanka a matter of grave concern, he said: “Whether it is the case of stapled visa for natives of Jammu and Kashmir or Arunachal, or China’s infrastructural and strategic build-up in Gilgit-Baltistan of PoK, China is busy in aggressively increasing its influence in India’s neighbourhood.”
