BJP came out with a compilation of "violent, provocative and unparliamentary" speeches made by Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Ministers Salman Khurshid and Manish Tewari and a host of other senior leaders

Saharanpur Congress candidate Imran Masood's controversial comments against Narendra Modi caused a flutter in the BJP, with the party accusing the Congress leadership of inspiring unparliamentary political discourse.

On Friday, the BJP came out with a compilation of “violent, provocative and unparliamentary” speeches made by Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Ministers Salman Khurshid and Manish Tewari and a host of other senior leaders.

“The Election Commission should take cognisance of Mr. Masood's inflammatory comments. We will also file a formal complaint with them on Saturday. These comments are provocative and can instigate communal violence,” said BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi.

Mr. Trivedi who read out a list of comments made by the Congress leadership including the infamous “Maut ke Saudagar” used by Ms. Gandhi said the party has negatively drawn comparisons between Mr. Modi and Adolf Hitler, demon king Ravan and has also called him “Lahu Purush”. “This goes on to show what kind of atmosphere the Congress wants in the country. They do not want to fight the election on the issue of governance, development etc., and have deviated from dignity and decorum that are hallmarks of a democracy,” Mr. Trivedi said.
