Be a link between govt, people: Modi tells BJP MPs

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants his party colleagues in Parliament to act as a link between the government and the electorate.

On Friday during a meeting with BJP MPs from northern region, Mr. Modi said the government in the past 50-odd days has taken some hard-decisions that has given the people a hope that the country will soon be on the right track, but it is the imperative for the MPs to create awareness about the government’s policies and their impact on the common man.

MPs from Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab and the poll-bound Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir and Delhi met Prime Minister Modi at his residence and exchanged views on governance and how the party will go to polls in the upcoming State Assembly elections.

The MPs were asked to share their feedback with the Prime Minister and put forward the strategy that the party should follow for the upcoming state Assembly polls.

“The Prime Minister was keen that the MPs should be familiar with the issues that are being raised in Parliament and outside of it, so that they are all on the same page. He wanted them to be able to tell how the government is working to ensure that benefits reach the common man,” said a party functionary.

BJP president Amit Shah also met MPs from Rajasthan to discuss future plans for the development of Rajasthan. Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia was also a part of the meeting.
