Assam violence: Rs. 1 lakh reward for information

The CBI on Saturday announced a reward of up to Rs.1 lakh to those providing “credible” information on perpetrators of violence in Assam. “An appeal is made that if someone has any information about these cases including audio or video recordings or photographs of the crime which may help the CBI in reconstructing the scene of crime or identification of miscreants, the person concerned may contact CBI officers on mobile telephone number 8811099997 or 8811099996 or send an SMS at these numbers on which the CBI officer would contact the person. Information can also be faxed at 03664-241253 or e-mailed athobsc1del@cbi.gov.in or sent to CBI Camp Office-Deosri, BRPL Guest House, New Bongaigaon [Assam],” a CBI statement said.

A CBI team of special crime unit is camping in Assam and has registered seven cases related to violence. CBI sources said the team has recovered some video clippings that are believed to be of an attack on a hostel at Gossaigaon in Kokrajhar. The team is also in touch with local electronic news channel and newspapers asking them for videos or photographs that could lead to culprits. Forensic experts have also visited violence-hit areas , sources said.
