Ansari in Dhaka for Tagore birth anniversary

Vice-President Hamid Ansari and his wife Salma Ansari being received by Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dipu Moni at Dhaka Airport on Thursday.

Indian Vice-President Mohammad Hamid Ansari arrived here Thursday on a two-day visit to join the 150th birth anniversary celebration of Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore.

Mr. Ansari and his wife were received by Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dipu Moni at the Shahjalal International Airport.

Mr. Ansari is accompanied by a 59-member delegation, including Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur, three MPs and a 19-member media team.

Mr. Ansari will join Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in inaugurating the celebrations in connection with the 150th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka on Friday.

India and Bangladesh decided to jointly celebrate the anniversary during Sheikh Hasina's visit to New Delhi in January last year. Both the countries have chalked out elaborate programmes to mark the year-long celebrations
