‘BCs got recognition and space in political arena only due to the party’

The YS family has always been working against the interests of the BCs, alleges Kala Venkata Rao.

The TDP found fault with YSR Congress Party (YSRC) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for organising the BC Garjana at Eluru on Sunday.

It alleged that the Opposition leader was pretending to be concerned with the plight of the Backward Classes (BCs).

The BCs got the recognition and space in the political arena solely due to the TDP and its founder president N.T. Rama Rao.

The BC Garjana was organised with an eye on power, the party said. State TDP president Kimidi Kala Venkata Rao wrote an open letter to Mr. Jagan posing 13 questions. Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu too took strong exception to the BC Garjana. Mr. Rao alleged that the YS family had always been working against the interests of the BCs. Former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had included 31 backward communities forcefully in the BC list without increasing the quota. “The BCs are now not ready to be cheated in your hands again as the meeting was held to cheat them again,” he said.

Mr. Ramakrishnudu pointed out Mr. Jagan never spoke about the BCs when his father was at the helm of affairs. Nor did he speak about their plight in the Lok Sabha when he served as Kadapa MP.

Budgetary support

On other hand, Mr. Naidu increased the Budget for their welfare. The government adopted a resolution favouring reservations for the BCs in Legislatures twice. The BJP, the YSRC and the TRS were trying to create a rift between the BCs and the TDP. The BCs, however, would teach a befitting lesson to them, he said.
