YSR Congress on Friday appealed to party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy to call off his six-day-old indefinite fast in view of his deteriorating health.
The Political Affairs Committee of the party met here and urged Ms. Vijayamma to appeal to Jagan to withdraw his hunger strike keeping the larger interest of the people in mind, who need his leadership at this juncture. Senior party leader Konathala Ramakrishna said the PAC has appealed to him to withdraw the fast in view of his deteriorating health. He hit out at the jail authorities for not informing Jagan’s family members when he was shifted to the hospital around midnight.
Ms. Vijayamma said Jagan was highly distressed that neither the State nor the Centre were bothered and thus decided to undertake fast. Meanwhile, the Principal Special Court for CBI Cases here on Friday reserved its orders for Saturday on a memo filed by Y.S. Bharathi, wife of Jagan, seeking permission to allow her to stay with her husband in the hospital as an attendant.

It was the second memo filed by Ms. Bharathi personally before the court after memos filed by her and Ms. Vijayamma, Jagan’s mother, earlier in the day were returned by the court citing lack of provisions for admitting the pleas. Without citing any provisions in the CrPC, the initial memos were filed on humanitarian grounds.
In the second memo filed by Ms. Bharathi, she quoted the deteriorating health condition of Jagan with the indicators of blood pressure, blood sugar and others. She also cited the OGH doctors’ concern over her husband’s health. Counsel for CBI opposed the memo stating that there were no provisions in the law to maintain it.
Ms. Bharathi was in tears while coming out of the court hall and asked the CBI counsel as to how they could oppose a memo filed on humanitarian grounds.
