Witchcraft suspect succumbs to burns

A 35-year-old man who beheaded a boy in an alleged practice of witchcraft, succumbed to burns at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) here on Saturday.

The accused, Tirumala Rao, was admitted to RIMS for treatment of burns sustained when villagers, enraged over the killing of the five-year-old boy, torched him after dousing kerosene over him on Wednesday last, Kandukur Circle Inspector M. Lakshman said.

Rao’s relatives, including his brother, had fled from the village after local residents damaged their house.
