Naidu repeating his promises with an eye on elections, alleges Jagan

YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy visit at a fish tank in Pedakapavaram in West Godavari on Friday.

West Godavari district will be named after freedom-fighter and martyr Alluri Seetharama Raju once the YSR Congress Party comes to power, said Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, president of the YSR Congress Party, on Friday.

Addressing a public meeting at Akiveedu of Undi Assembly Constituency in West Godavari, Mr. Jagan said there was a request to name the district after the freedom fighter from a Kshatreya Association. Re-naming the district would be a fitting tribute to the “son of the soil”.

Speaking about the several promises Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu made at the time of elections, Mr Jagan said he had forgotten all of them for four years. With elections round the corner, Mr. Naidu was suddenly recalling all the promises he made and was renewing his promise to fulfil them all over again. For four years, Mr. Naidu forgot completely about the youth and with just six months to go for the elections, the entire drama was going to be enacted again. Calculating at the rate of ₹2,000 per month, the government owed each household ₹96,000.

“If you have a chance to see the Chief Minister anywhere, ask him what happened to the money,” he said. Again with the elections round the corner, the TDP government was saying that it would increase the number of beneficiaries being pension to 50 lakh, Mr. Jagan said.

Mr. Jagan said that aquaculture farmers were suffering severe losses because the government was unable to provide them the water they needed. Farmers were forced to share waters from the different tanks though they know that virus and other diseases would spread.

Once the YSR Congress Party government takes over, it would regulate the exporters and agents that were bringing down the prices of fish and prawns. It would arrange for the establishment of several cold storages and food processing units to ensure that aqua-farmers make a profit, he said.

Mr. Jagan said that once YSR Congress Party comes to power, all the loans of the DWCRA workers would be repaid in four instalments and the creditworthiness of the women in the groups would be restored.
