Making it clear that the police would foil the proposed ‘padayatra’ by Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham “at any cost,” Director-General of Police N. Sambasiva Rao on Wednesday said the Supreme Court had issued guidelines in a specific manner with regard to the possible law and order issues during agitations, and that the police would follow the same without fail.
Speaking to the media after launching the ‘e-challan’ system here, Mr. Rao advised youngsters not to participate in the ‘padayatra,’ as the police would take stern action against all the participants.
“We are not going to remain mute spectators if someone is launching an agitation without taking prior permission. We will do our duty and those who have any objection can approach the court,” he said.

Referring to the Tuni arson case, the DGP said no innocent would be booked in the cases and at the same time none of the guilty would be spared. “We are trying to compensate the police and the mediapersons who lost their vehicles and cameras during the arson,” he said.
On the e-challan project, Mr. Rao said the levying of challans on traffic rule violators would be done online, so that the police could trace repeated violators. He said the fine amount could be remitted online by using the bank cards.
To a question on the seizure of sedatives, the DGP said an in depth investigation would be conducted into the cases and steps would be taken to prevent the supply of sedatives and drugs. Superintendent of Police Vishal Gunni and other officials were present.
