West Godavari to be illuminated with LED bulbs

Justice Grandhi Bhavani Prasad, Chairman of AP Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) has said the entire West Godavari district would be illuminated with LED bulbs after disbursal of 15 lakh bulbs in next two to three months.

Launching DSM-based Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP) in all households here, as a part of Pilot Project which is selected along with Anantapur, Guntur and Srikakulam here on Thursday, Justice Prasad said that the stage government under the pilot project had distributed 42 lakh LED bulbs in the three districts through which 0.20 units of power per day would be saved and through two bulbs per house 12 units per month would be conserved. He further stated that disbursal of two crore bulbs in 13 districts is their target and it would be done in phased manner.

He said that under 24x7 power supply mission, the AP state government has taken up several measures in which conservation of energy up to 24 percent is the main option. Justice Prasad said that there is every possibility of saving 2,800 million units per annum, which would be a major achievement in the country.

Sourabh Kumar, managing director of Energy Efficiency Services Limited said the company will distribut 15 lakh bulbs, two each to 6.5 lakh people in West Godavari with the support of Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (EPDCL) in next two to three months.

Principal Secretary Ajay Jain, Madhava Naidu, MLA, Narsapuram presided over the meeting.
