Lashes out at Naidu for ‘lacking commitment’ on Special Category Status

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy addressing a press conference at Sangam Jagarlamudi on Friday.

On a day when the five MPs of the YSRCP tendered their resignations and began an indefinite fast at AP Bhavan in New Delhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Y. S Jagan Mohan Reddy said that the party would continue its relentless fight for the Special Category Status (SCS) to the State. “This day when our five MPs resigned is a historical one and will remain etched in the collective memory of five crore people of the State. We have always said that resignation is our last weapon in the fight for the SCS. It shows our sincerity and consistency. It has also exposed the lack of credibility of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu who has made several U-turns on SCS,’’ Mr. Jagan said at a press conference at his camp site in Sangam Jagarlamudi village.

The YSRCP leader made it clear that his party would not be attending the all-party meet called by the CM at Velagapudi on Saturday (April 7).

Drawing a parallel between the stir for the SCS and the one undertaken in Telanagana for achieving statehood, Mr. Jagan said he always remembers the words of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao who used to say that he is ready to kiss even a caterpillar to achieve the objective.

He took exception to the allegation that his party is hobnobbing with the BJP.
