ACB sleuths on Wednesday raided the properties of Vizianagaram Joint Collector II Kakarla Nageswara Rao and unearthed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Searches were conducted at 10 places, including those of his friends and family members, in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
The ACB teams identified seven house sites in Amalapuram, Visakhapatnam, and Vizianagaram; five agricultural lands; three flats; and a house.

The properties were unearthed at Gantyada in Vizianagaram and Madhurawada and Pedda Waltair in Visakhapatnam.
A native of Tyajampudi village of Devarapalli mandal in West Godavari district, Nageswara Rao had joined the government service as deputy tahsildar in 1990 at Uppalaguptam in East Godavari district. In 1998, he was promoted as tahsildar. He was elevated to the post of deputy tahsildar in 2003.
He had worked in Maredumalli, Peddapuram, I. Polavaram, Mummidivaram, and Kakinada in East Godavari district. He had also served as Executive Officer in Narsipatnam, Simhachalam, and Annavaram devasthanams.

Later, Nageswara Rao worked as Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) in Kakinada, Eluru, and Jangareddygudem. On promotion, he worked as Additional Joint Collector of Guntur district.
He has been working as Joint Collector II of Vizianagaram district since June 2017. The properties had been registered in his name and that of his son Rajesh Chandra, daughter Niharika, and mother Dhanalakshmi, ACB Director General R.P. Thakur said.
Gold, silver seized
The police seized 705 grams gold jewellery and 5,567 grams silver ornaments. Besides, documents pertaining to bank balance of ₹19.91 lakh and FDs worth ₹12.75 lakh were seized. Household articles worth ₹10.72 lakh were also seized. Fixed deposits pertaining to a few other banks were yet to be verified.
The accused is being arrested and produced in the ACB Court in Visakhapatnam.
