July 21, 2014 04:17 pm | Updated April 22, 2016 02:14 am IST - KAKINADA:

Three visually challenged students were beaten up mercilessly by their school correspondent for being “ïndisciplined”. The bizarre incident took place on Friday and came to light only on Monday when some unidentified persons sent the video clipping to a couple of Telugu news channels.

As the channels aired the news of correspondent thrashing the students continuously, angry parents of the children and social activists staged protests in front of the school. Some of them entered the school premises and attacked the school authorities. They demanded action against the school management.

District Educational Officer K.V. Srinivasulu Reddy rushed to the Greenfields School for the Blind at Timmapuram on the city outskirts, where the incident took place and conducted an inquiry into the incident. Following a complaint from the DEO, the Sarpavaram police arrested the school correspondent K.V. Rao and principal Srinivas for beating up the visually impaired children. A case has been registered and investigation is on.
