YSR Congress honorary president Vijayamma on Wednesday urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to order a probe by a sitting Supreme Court Judge into the alleged vindictive actions of the CBI and its Joint Director V.V. Lakshminaryana.
Memorandum given
Taking her fight to New Delhi against what she called ‘witch-hunting by CBI’, Ms. Vijayamma met the Prime Minister in his office and presented a seven-page memorandum narrating the sequence of events in the last one year. She was accompanied by party MLAs – Shoba Nagi Reddy and M. Sucharita, Nellore MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, senior leaders M.V. Mysoora Reddy and Pilli Subash Chandra Bose

She also submitted another letter urging the Centre to save the farmers from distress and increase the input subsidy. She later called on Janata Dal (U) leader Sharad Yadav seeking support for her fight against injustice to Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy.
Ms. Vijayamma explained to the Prime Minister how the CBI, which filed an FIR in August last year to probe ‘quid pro quo’ case against Jagan, had been functioning giving room for doubt over its motives in handling the case.
She said the prevailing situation in Andhra Pradesh reminds one of a ‘police raj’. The AP police and the CBI are jointly unleashing a reign of terror in the State. “Cases are being foisted, illegal arrests made and democracy being smothered in the garb of probe. The Congress government, the main opposition TDP, AP police and the CBI are working in tandem targeting Jagan,” she alleged.

Jagan was never a party to the decisions taken by the government nor was he ever present at any of the review meetings. The decisions were taken by the entire Cabinet and individual decisions were not imposed on it. She urged the Central Vigilance Commission to look into the role of CBI Joint Director. She expressed fears that there was a threat to her son’s life.
Farmer’s issue
Ms. Vijayamma demanded that Centre roll back the prices of fertilizers which would help in bringing down the input costs drastically. She demanded implementation of all reports submitted by M.S. Swaminathan committee in toto besides accepting that MSP was a legally implementable constitutional right of the farmer. Talking to reporters later, she said the Prime Minister had responded positively to her plea.
