United AP bills deducted from residuary AP account in goof-up

In an indication of teething troubles despite bifurcation of bank accounts of Telangana and AP governments, an instance of Rs.540 crore worth bills of united Andhra Pradesh being debited from the account of residuary Andhra Pradesh came to light on Wednesday. The bills submitted by two or three departments to the banks should have been presented to the united State account by May 31 itself. From the midnight of June 1, individual bank accounts from both the States came into effect. However, the bank officials presented the bills on June 2. The officials who noticed the goof-up then wrote to the RBI to correct the mistake. Meanwhile, both the States received Central devolutions to the tune of Rs.2,000 crore.
