An earnest appeal was made at the second convocation of Sri Venkateswara Vedic University (SVVU) to scientists and traditional scholars to join hands to unearth the scientific facts and formulae hidden in the Vedic scriptures.
Governor and Chancellor E.S.L. Narasimhan, in his in-absentia message read out by Vice-Chancellor K.E. Devanathan, pointed out that several scientific ideas had their roots in Vedic texts and cited the example of Pythagoras theorem, which is from Sulabha Sutra, a part of Kalpasutra in Yagnakarma.
“This clearly shows that Vedic knowledge is far superior to modern science. Hence, the students of this esteemed university should take up a novel path to achieve the goal of establishing a humane world by propagating the quintessence of Vedic Dharma,” he said.

Congratulating the 414 graduates who received their doctorates and degrees on the memorable occasion, he advocated them to look beyond a Vedic degree and use their knowledge for a better society. The varsity conferred the honorary title ‘Mahamahopadhyaya’ on ‘Brahmasri’ Madduri Venkateswarayajulu, advisor for Sri Durgamalleswara (Vijayawada) and Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna (Srisailam) temples.
He is also the Vedic, cultural and religious advisor to Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, Sringeri Mutt and Sri Datta Peetam. The scholar, in his convocation address, called upon the Vedic students to strictly practise Veda Karma in order to be reckoned as the ‘Guardians of the society’.
Prof. Devanathan presented the annual report, while the TTD’s Specified Authority Chairman J.C. Sharma and Executive Officer M.G. Gopal released 12 books. JEOs K.S. Sreenivasa Raju and P. Bhaskar among others were present.
