UGC releases Rs. 255 cr. for A. P. varsities

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has released Rs. 255 crore for upgrading of universities in the State. A press release from the Chief Minister’s office said Rs. 55 crore had been allocated for the Rajahmundry Government College. An amount of Rs. 20 crore each has been granted for upgrading infrastructure in Andhra, Sri Venkateswara, Acharya Nagarjuna and Sri Krishnadevaraya universities. The UGC also granted Rs. 12 crore each for upgrading Pathapatnam College in Srikakulam and Cheepurupalli College in Vizianagaram to model centres for college education.
