TTD to take up developmental works

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board of trustees on Sunday resolved to take up development works on a large scale for the benefit of visiting devotees.

The trust members, who met under the chairmanship of K. Bapiraju at the Annamaiah Bhavan here, resolved to construct a car parking space at the sprawling Mullugunta (TTB) area at Tirumala at a cost of around Rs. 50 crore.

A complex for free meals (nitya annaprasadam) would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 5 crore besides an amenities complex at Mattupalle near Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple in Nalgonda (Rs. 1.4 crore), and Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple at Kotepalle in the home constituency of the Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy (Rs. 64 lakh) and a massive godown for stocking human hair at Alipiri (Rs. 6 crore).

The board also gave its nod for crafting a new ‘Sahasra Nama Kasula Mala’ to the presiding deity Lord Venkateswara at a cost of Rs. 11 crore.

Over 33 kg of gold is expected to go into the making of the precious jewel.

A devotee, Ramalinga Raju, has expressed his willingness to bear the cost, TTD chairman K. Bapiraju said.
