TTD to plant 12 lakh saplings at Tirumala

As part of its promoting greenery atop the sacred town, the TTD is planning to plant over 12 lakh saplings by the end of this year.

Disclosing this to the media, TTD Forest Officer N.V. Shivaram prasad on Tuesday said that the TTD had already planted about one lakh sandalwood saplings in about 2,750 hectares in the forest area. Besides this, the management also has taken up planting of over 40,000 medicinal plants in an area spread over 700 acres of forest land.

The temple town known for its biodiversity nature also is a house for over 50 animal species and appealed to the trekking pilgrims in particular to abstain from feeding food to the animals.
