TTD ‘three-tier darshan’ system receives praise

TTD EO Gopal says the administration is considering various alternatives aimed at reducing the waiting time of the devotees while in ‘darshan’ lines

Contrary to the regular criticism and complaints received, the ‘Dial TTD Executive Officer’ programme organised on the first Friday of every month surprisingly witnessed widespread appreciation for the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) management’s new darshan initiative – the ‘Three-tier darshan’ system.

The participants heaped praises on the new initiative and extolled the efforts of the temple administration in finally address the perpetual menace – pulling and pushing by the temple staff during the darshan of the presiding deity.

Buoyed at the pouring-in accolades, the TTD s Executive officer and the brain behind the initiative M.G. Gopal said that the administration was also seriously considering various alternatives aimed at reducing the waiting time of the devotees while in the darshan lines.

It is in one such initiative that the management is seriously exploring the feasibility of introducing ‘time slot’ option in all the categories of the darshan systems presently in vogue at Tirumala, including the Rs.300/- special entry tickets. Reiterating that the management was committed to addressing the problems of the common devotees, he said the administration was also working with a ‘self-set’ target of facilitating the devotees have a hassle-free darshan of the deity at least for two seconds.
