Government delinks FAST scheme. The government has also decided to delink the Financial Assistance to the Students of Telangana (FAST) scheme from the counselling process.

After much dilly-dallying, the Telangana government has announced that the engineering counselling process will begin in the State from August 14 with the certificate verification, which will continue till August 23. The notification will be issued today.

The Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) Chairman, T. Papi Reddy, said that the admission process including web counselling would be completed in coordination with the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) by August 31 as per the Supreme Court directions.

The government has also decided to delink the Financial Assistance to the Students of Telangana (FAST) scheme from the counselling process. It means students need to submit their academic and caste certificates only and the submission of income certificate will not yield anything to them as of now.

They can claim the FAST benefits separately once the guidelines are finalised, which are likely to be issued once the first phase of counselling is completed.

Prof. Reddy who held a meeting with the higher education officials from Telangana to finalise the schedule said the meeting discussed a few other issues connected to the counselling and students will get clarity on all the issues before the counselling process ends.

A meeting of the Engineering Admissions Committee will be held on Wednesday at the APSCHE office where Prof. Reddy will represent Telangana.
