As expected, a wave swept throughout Medak district in favour of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in the general elections for which results were announced on Friday. The TRS was able to win eight out of the total 10 Assembly constituencies and two Lok Sabha seats. The Congress, which held eight seats in the previous Assembly, got reduced to two seats.
TRS candidates K. Chandraseakhr Rao (Gajwel – 19,218), T. Harish Rao (Siddipet- 93,328), S. Ramalinga Reddy (Dubbak -37,899), M. Padma Devender Reddy (Medak – 39,234), Ch. Madan Reddy (Narsapur – 14,215), Chinta Prabhakar (Sangareddy – 29,236), P. Babumohan (Andol 3,208) and G. Mahipal Reddy (Patancheru – 15,127) won the elections with huge majorities.
Similarly, Mr. Rao also won from Medak Lok Sabha seat with a majority of 3,97,029 votes and B.B. Patil from Zaheerabad Lok Sabha with about one lakh majority.

However, former minister and Congress candidate J. Geeta Reddy from Zaheerabad was able to win with a slender majority of 814 votes against TRS candidate M. Manik Rao. Similarly, Congress candidate and former legislator P. Kishta Reddy won from Narayanakhed against TRS candidate M. Bhupal Reddy with a majority of 14,746.
From the beginning, TRS candidates established good leads and by the time of completing counting of half of the rounds each of them were able to cross considerable margins making it difficult for Congress candidates to overcome them.
Continuing his aggressive posture in winning the elections, Mr. Harsih Rao established 3,000 to 4,000 lead in each round of counting and touched the 93,354 votes majority mark. Similarly, G. Mahipal Reddy from Patancheru, Chinta Prabhakar from Sangareddy were also established early leads and continued their advances without giving any chance for their nearest rivals.

Except, Mr. Kishta Reddy all other Congress leaders were swept away in the wave of TRS and Ms. Geeta Reddy has luckily escaped from that.
