TRS sees plot to scuttle T-formation

‘Attacks in Seemandhra aimed at provoking Telangana people and raising controversy over Hyderabad status’

The Telangana Rashtra Samiti has reiterated its resolve that it would not accept anything short of separate Telangana with Hyderabad as its capital.

At a meeting convened by TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao at his farmhouse in the neighbouring Medak district on Sunday, senior leaders of the party suspected that efforts were under way to raise a controversy over the status of Hyderabad so that formation of separate State could be delayed.

The meeting took a serious view of the Telangana Congress’ leaders reported claims that they would not object if the law and order in Hyderabad was kept under the Centre’s purview after the separate Telangana State was formed.

The Centre should take steps to ensure that Hyderabad would be under the control of the Telangana Government and this should be incorporated in the Bill that would be presented in the Parliament. The meeting was convened to take stock of the developments in New Delhi as well as the ongoing agitation in the Seemandhra region against the Congress high command’s green signal to bifurcation of the State.

The leaders who attended the meeting saw a conspiracy in the ongoing agitation in Seemandhra region which “took an ugly turn’’ wherein people and leaders from Telangana region were being physically targeted by the Seemandhra agitators.

“This is a well planned move to provoke the Telangana people to reciprocate and attack the Seemandhra people living here so that the process of formation of Telangana can be derailed,” senior leader N. Narsimha Reddy contended. In contrast, he said the Telangana protagonists never indulged in such acts and maintained restraint all through the 13-year struggle.

In addition to targeting the Telangana people, the protesters on the other side were insulting AICC president Sonia Gandhi and senior Congress leaders by damaging their statues and hurling footwear at the posters of Ms. Gandhi and TRS president, K. Chandrasekhar Rao. “What is the police doing when the protestors are indulging in such acts? The police was over active when dealing with the same situation in Telangana where the agitators were caned and tear gas shells lobbed at them,” Mr. Narsimha Reddy said.

He criticised Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and AP Congress Committee president Botcha Satyanarayana for remaining mute spectators to the insults that were being meted out to their leaders.
