The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) will go it alone in this election. After playing hardball with the Congress, the TRS made it clear that it will not have any alliance with the party.
‘Winning horse’“We are a winning horse. Surveys have clearly shown that the TRS is a leading player in Telangana and the winning tempo is with us,” TRS leader K. Tarakarama Rao said.

Sources said the party leadership feels there is no need for a tie-up with the Congress as it is sure of cobbling up a good majority in the elections on its own.
“The numbers favouring the TRS will certainly increase. A lot of people will decide to cast their vote for us which will stand us in good stead,” Mr. Tarakarama Rao said.
A party MLA said they would provide a stable and strong government since they would emerge a clear winner in the elections.

“Some surveys have given us 55-60 seats. That’s a trend indicator. It’s bound to increase in the coming days,” he pointed out.
Sources say TRS’ insistence on anointing party supremo K. Chandrasekhar Rao as the chief ministerial candidate has put paid to any hopes of a deal with the Congress.
“Mr. Rao was bent upon sitting on the rooftop. He refused to come down. In Congress, they don’t even declare the prime ministerial candidate before the elections. So, the question of announcing a chief ministerial nominee is simply out of question,” a senior leader pointed out.
Sources said the TRS might find the going tough in at least 35-40 Assembly and some parliamentary constituencies.
Though the party is strong in north Telangana, it has always been on a weak wicket in south Telangana and Hyderabad district. In some constituencies like Malkajgiri, Maheswaram, Kukatapally, Rajendranagar, Narayanpet, Miryalaguda, Pinapaka, Khammam and Yellandu, the party is in bad shape.
