TRS confident of putting up good show at Gajwel

The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) leaders are confident of an impressive show in Gajwel Assembly constituency.

This was despite the results of Mandal Parishat Territorial Constituencies (MPTC) and Zilla Parishat Territorial Constituencies (ZPTC) polls under the limits of Gajwel, from where party president K. Chandrasekhar Rao has contested, going against the party.

Vigorous campaign

The TRS had heavily deployed its activists to win the elections from the beginning, right from Nagara Panchayat elections.

Party senior leader T. Harish Rao personally supervised the campaigning for Gajwel–Pragnapur nagara panchayat elections and his trusted lieutenant K. Rajanarsu was entrusted with the complete responsibility.

Despite all this, the TDP leader and Assembly contestant V. Pratap Reddy was able to reach half the mark.

Of the total 20 ward members, the TDP was able to win10 seats closely followed by TRS which won nine seats and while the Congress party had to contend with one seat.

Coming to ZPTC election results, of the total six seats, both Congress and TDP were able to share three each without leaving any to the TRS. Same was the case with the MPTC election results.

Of the total 81 MPTC seats under the constituency limits, the Congress was able to win 36, followed by TDP 33 and TRS 12.

‘Result expected’

However, some of the TRS leaders maintain that this result was already expected because by the time of municipal and ZPTC and MPTC elections the candidature of Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao was only floated, but not confirmed. They are hopeful that the general election results would be completely in favour of the party president.

“The situation changed drastically at the ground level once the candidature of Mr. Rao was announced. Even some of the Congress leaders extended support to the TRS president with a hope that he will become Chief Minister,” said one Vijayanad from Gajwel.
