The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will soon submit petitions in the court seeking custody of former Ministers Dharmana Prasada Rao and P. Sabitha Indra Reddy for questioning them, according to CBI Joint Director V.V. Lakshminarayana.

Mr. Lakshminarayana came to the city on Saturday morning. He went to the CBI Office at MVP Colony and interacted with the officers and staff.

Later speaking to newsmen who met him, he said that his transfer would not have any effect on the investigation of the case.

He expressed the view that the CBI was a well-established organisation with a system in place to tackle even high-profile cases.

Under no pressure

Replying to queries, Mr. Lakshminarayana clarified that he had not come under pressure while dealing with the high-profile cases.

He said that he had learnt about his transfer only through TV channels and was yet to receive the orders and added that he had served for seven years, the maximum period allowed for a Central deputation.
