The sacred hill town of Lord Venkateswara which reeled under the impact of torrential rains during the last couple of days limped back to normalcy on Tuesday with no fresh cloud bursts since Monday evening.
The turnout of the pilgrim crowd was moderate. It took only a couple of hours for the devotees to have the darshan of the presiding deity. While the Alipiri footpath leading to Tirumala town experienced a thin movement of the trekking pilgrims and the vehicular traffic was modest on the ghat roads.
Traffic remained diverted on to the link road and both the up and down traffic was regulated at the Mokkalla Mitta point. Restoration works to some extent were taken up on the upper stretches of the second ghat road which had been closed for past one week. On the other hand the ghat road also experienced fresh land slips at a couple of places in the wee hours of Tuesday.

The vigilant engineering personnel immediately cleared the debris without any disruption to the vehicular traffic. The crest gates of the Papavinasanam and Gogarbham dams were lifted for the second consecutive day with the active supply streams bringing copious waters along with them.
Meanwhile, the devout remain disturbed with the reported forecast of more rains in the next couple of days.
