‘Both did injustice to Rayalaseema’

N. Tulasi Reddy

APCC vice-president N. Tulasi Reddy on Saturday accused the TDP and the YSRCP of vitiating the peaceful atmosphere in Nandyal constituency by their vituperative remarks and personal slander.

Addressing the media at Nandyal, Mr. Tulasi Reddy condemned YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s remarks to “gun down and hang Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu” and Mr. Naidu’s remarks that those not voting for the TDP had “no right to use the roads, avail pensions and benefits extended by his government.”

He accused the TDP and the YSRCP of dancing to the tunes of the NDA Government at the Centre for their selfish political gains and mortgaging the State’s interests.

Stating that voting for the TDP would strengthen the BJP, he maintained that the byelection was between the Congress and the BJP.

The people should use the byelection as an opportunity to free themselves from the clutches of the Bhuma and Silpa families, Dr. Tulasi Reddy remarked.

Mr. Naidu and Mr. Jagan were meting out injustice to Rayalaseema though they hailed from the region, he alleged. Rayalaseema ought to have got the capital or the High Court, but both the parties were non-committal, he said. Congress candidate G. Abdul Khader, INTUC district president Ramana, general secretary Vasu, official spokesman Seelam Obulesu and Mahila Congress leader G. Sugunamma were present.
