Describing sitting Congress MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy crossing over to the TDP as a ‘shot in the arm for the party’, TDP Prakasam district unit president D. Janardhan on Wednesday asserted that the party would put up an impressive performance in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.

After filing his nomination papers for the Ongole Assembly constituency, he said the party’s tie-up with the BJP would bolster the party’s electoral prospects further. “The State is very much in need of the administrative experience of TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu to ensure rapid progress. We will not rest till making Mr. Naidu the Chief Minister,” he said.

A day after Mr. Srinivasulu Reddy joined the TDP, his son M. Raghava Reddy filed two sets of nomination papers on behalf of his father. He also filed two sets of nominations as the TDP’s dummy candidate. The TDP which won the lone Markapur Assembly seat in Prakasam district comprising 12 Assembly segments, would win a majority of seats this time, Mr. Janardhan, who led a grand procession, said.
