Union Urban Development Minister M.Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Telugu Desam Party would work together to develop the fledgling State.
“Both the parties contested the elections unitedly and are working together to develop the State. We will remain together in the future,” he made it clear here after accepting a civic reception accorded by the Ongole Municipal Corporation.
He dismissed as rumours reported differences between the two parties. None need to have doubts over the commitment of the BJP to develop the State, he said.

Stating that injustice had been meted out to the State at the time of bifurcation by the Congress-led UPA Government, he said the State was being provided with ₹2,30,000 crore by the Centre under various heads. Staying put in New Delhi, he would liaison with various Central departments and ensure that the State got the maximum benefit under various projects, he said. Reeling out figures of financial support for educational institutions, roadways, railways and inland waterways in the last three years, he said no other State had been provided with so much funds for development in a short span of time.
“It is because of the Centre’s support, Andhra Pradesh has become power surplus. What the people need is not free current but quality power supply which will not damage their appliances,” he added.

Mr. Venkaiah Naidu urged urban local bodies to generate internal resources and improve the quality of civic services to denizens. “People will not mind paying a little more if quality services are provided to them,” he added.
Building plans clearance
The Centre would shortly put in place a system of online approval of building plan and other services rendered by urban civic bodies, he said while launching the ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas Sammelan’ from here to mark the completion of three years in office by the NDA government.
MRPS protest
Activists of the Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS) caused a flutter by blocking the convoy of Mr. Venkaiah Naidu seeking micro classification of the SCs.
Tactfully handling the situation, the Minister said the NDA government was sympathetic to their cause.
He detailed the efforts being made to evolve a consensus among the States to amend the Constitution to meet their demand. The activists, who had been raising slogans till then, started hailing him.
