The Telangana Congress Monitoring Group has urged the party high command to take a positive decision on the separate Statehood issue at the earliest.
At a meeting here on Thursday, the Group passed a resolution seeking a separate Telangana with Hyderabad as its capital and rejected any special package or Rayala-Telangana. “There is no option other than separate Telangana which has its borders demarcated,” the resolution said.
The TCMG extended solidarity to the proposed public meeting at Nizam College grounds here on June 30 and urged people to convey their aspirations by attending it. The group warned the party that its future in the region would become uncertain in the event of not conceding the demand. Congress MP Rapole Anand Bhaskar urged Congress president Sonia Gandhi to keep her December 9, 2009 promise of carving out a separate State.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy returned to the city on Thursday evening after a three-day visit to New Delhi where he had gone to coordinate efforts for the safe return of pilgrims from Uttarakhand.
He was expected to call on Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday afternoon but the meeting did not materialise as she reached the capital late from her engagements in Jammu & Kashmir. However, he met senior party leaders Digvijay Singh and Ghulam Nabi Azad.

They reportedly advised him to focus on the ensuing local bodies’ elections.
Mr. Digvijay Singh informed Mr. Reddy and PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana that he would visit the State early next week and hold discussions on Telangana and other key issues.
He reportedly expressed his aversion to frequent visits by Congress leaders to New Delhi to lodge one complaint or the other with members of the party high command.
