Hundreds of students and teachers of unaided schools and colleges took out a Samaikyandhra rally from Koti Reddy statue here on Thursday, formed a human chain at Seven Roads junction and then squatted in protest before the Kadapa Collectorate. Clad in school uniforms, they carried placards demanding Samaikyandhra and raised slogans against the UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
JAC leader S. Goverdhan Reddy said the future lay in the hands of students and their employment and growth prospects would be stunted if the State was bifurcated and therefore urged them to actively take part in the movement. The agitation will continue until the Central government categorically announces that the State will not be bifurcated. Police diverted traffic at Seven Roads junction on account of the protest and organised bandobust.
