Students’ help sought for webcasting

March 28, 2014 07:07 pm | Updated June 13, 2016 07:11 am IST - KAKINADA:

District Collector Neetu Prasad has called upon the managements of private engineering colleges to encourage their students to participate in the webcasting process during the general elections. Addressing a review meeting with officials and representatives of various colleges here, Ms. Neetu said the idea was to webcast the entire election process for which the services of over 3,000 students were required.

She said webcasting would help conduct the elections in a peaceful manner and to identify problematic polling stations at once. “We have already a trained student force of 1,300 for webcasting, and we want additional numbers. We are expecting college managements to take the lead in sending their students for the task,” she said.

Joint Collector R. Mutyala Raju said training would be offered to students who participate in webcasting, and that a trial run would be held. Webcasting liaison officer and JNTUK professor J.V.R. Murthy was present.
