Principal Secretary, Tourism and Culture, Neerabh Kumar Prasad on Friday said the State had attracted tourism projects worth Rs. 1,800 crore in one year.
Mr. Prasad said over 160 tourism-focussed projects were underway in the private sector while over 90 Government-initiated projects had been completed at a cost of Rs. 190 crore.
Claiming an overwhelming response from investors, he attributed it to sustained efforts of the Government to establish A.P. as an investment-friendly destination.

He said the Sunrise State had already realised tourism projects worth Rs. 1,800 crore in a year.
Notable hospitality brands were coming up at different places. The ITC was setting up a 5-star property with a 150-room capacity in Visakhapatnam, the Accor Group with a 200-room capacity in Vijayawada and Taj with a 133-room capacity in Chittoor district.

To augment MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events) tourism, 3 star properties with convention facilities were coming up at Vishakhapatnam, Chittoor and Vijayawada. As many as 29 hotels were coming up (3 to 5-star categories), across Visakhapatnam, Konaseema–Rajahmundry-Kakinada, Amaravati-Vijayawada, Tirupati-Nellore and Ananthapuramu–Kurnool–Kadapa, he said. He said water and adventure sports like jeep parasailing, jet-skiing, speed boats, sea plane, waterfall rappelling, rock climbing and other activities were introduced in Vishakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, Kakinada and Chittoor.
