Stage set for opening of seafront resort at Kothapatnam

District Collector says tenders are being finalised for the maintenance of the tourist resort

Prakasam district is bestowed with over a 100 km coastline. Yet it cannot boast of single beach resort that can woo a sizeable number of national and international tourists. With a view to shed this image, the district administration has drawn up an ambitious plans to give a fillip to tourism infrastructure in a big way by roping in private players.

With a view to showcase the unpolluted silver sands, a seafront beach resort with best of amenities has been constructed at a cost of ₹ 1 crore in the coastal village of Kothapatnam.

“Tenders are being finalised for the maintenance of the tourist resort by a private player,” District Collector V. Vinay Chand said after taking stock of the situation.

“We planned to augment the facilities at the sea coast villages with good tourism potential like Ramayapatnam, Motupalli and Voderavu in phases,” he said, adding that ₹40 lakh had been earmarked to give infrastructure boost to the fishing hamlet of Pakala, near Singarayakonda this year. Beach festival would be organised at periodic intervals to woo adventure-loving youth to the beach resorts including the one at Ramayapatnam, District Tourism Development Officer M.
