Split wide open among TS cultural artistes

As the first anniversary of Telangana is nearing, there appears to be a split among cultural artistes who strove for creation of the 29{+t}{+h}State. Daruvu Anjanna of Dhoom Dham has raised the banner of revolt against government sponsored Telangana Samskruthika Saradhi headed by Rasamayi Balakrishna, a TRS MLA. According to Anjanna, 300 of the 550 Sarathi artistes, who landed government jobs, are bogus, and did not participate in the Telangana struggle. The appointment letters given to them also did not carry the government logo. Interestingly, Anjanna vanished into thin air the other day citing threat from his opponent, Balakrishna.

NAC caught in

the crossfire

Another institution has been caught in the crossfire of Telangana and AP governments. The authorities at the swanky National Academy of Construction (NAC) have been accused of “unilaterally” transferring 37 employees hailing from AP to their native places based on their school certificates.

However, the affected employees were advised by a senior IAS officer to seek legal recourse as NAC was set up under Societies Act in the combined State.

He reportedly told them that there was no way NAC could be bifurcated and the only solution was that the Telangana government set up another parallel institution.

Incidentally, NAC is not included either in ninth or tenth schedules of AP Reorganisation Act.

Long road ahead for

APSRTC bifurcation

The APSRTC bifurcation is an unending process or so it seems. According to the latest development, the Sheila Bhide led expert committee constituted to oversee bifurcation of public sector undertakings has given the management time till June 1 to submit the de-merger plan and audited accounts.

The process will not be completed until these documents were filed, together with the Board approval.

However, the board meeting itself is getting delayed because of disproportionate representation for Telangana in it.

The State has only two directors in the 14-member board.

The Centre has suggested to the Telangana government to send the names of its representatives so that the board could be reconstituted.

On the other hand, the management has sought options from officers and staff about where they liked to work.

Unless the options were exercised, the process could not be pushed through
