Speed up canal works: Dy. CM

Mr. China Rajappa said that a fund of Rs. 98 crore had been allocated for modernisation of the canal in the first phase of which Rs. 43 crore had been released .

Deputy Chief Minister N. China Rajappa has asked the irrigation authorities to expedite modernisation works of Eluru canal works. Along with the people’s representatives and officials, he inspected Eluru canal in Kattamuru, Kandrakota and Divili villages on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. China Rajappa said that a fund of Rs. 98 crore had been allocated for modernisation of the canal in the first phase of which Rs. 43 crore had been released . He mentioned that five-bed regulators were being constructed between Peddapuram and Kandrakota and 11-bed regulators are being built between Kandrakota and Peddapuram.

He said the works will be taken up in Peddapuram with an expenditure of Rs. 19 crore.
