Communist Party of India State secretary K. Ramakrishna on Friday condemned Union Telecommunication Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad’s backing of the Shiv Sena’s demand for removing the words ‘Socialist’ and ‘Secular’ from the Preamble of the Constitution.

Speaking after paying glowing tributes to Mahatma Gandhi along with party district secretary K. Aruna on the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Mr. Ramakrishna said the Union Minister had exposed the BJP’s intentions to alter the secular character of the nation.

“It is unfortunate that the BJP wanted to give a go-by to the socialistic pattern of society in its effort to vigorously pursue corporate-friendly economic policies,” he charged.
