Six-year-old girl mauled to death by strays

In a shocking incident, a six-year old girl, Sk. Khoushar, was mauled to death by street dogs at Kakumanu village in the district on Wednesday morning.

The girl had left home to answer nature’s call in the fields nearby when a pack of stray dogs attacked her.

The house did not have a toilet. Khoushar’s parents, Sk. Subhani and Imambi, had left home in the morning to work in the agricultural fields. Her elder brother was in school.

Locals who noticed the girl lying unconscious rushed her to the local hospital, where the doctors declared her dead.

The incident sparked off protests with the locals staging a sit in on the Guntur-Kakumanu road. Traffic was held up on Guntur-Kakumanu road for quite a while.

Minister for Social Welfare Ravela Kishore Babu, who represents Prathipadu constituency, took a serious note of the incident and instructed the officials to rush to the village and ensure that the village was free from the menace of street dogs. Zilla Parishad chairperson Sk. Janimun,

Collector Kantilal Dande also rushed to the village. The Collector announced an ex gratia of Rs.1 lakh to the family of the girl.
