Singireddy was among three on the hit list

Three corporators in the State capital figured on the hit list of the terrorist module busted by the Karnataka police three days ago, police sources said on Saturday.

Two of them — Raja Singh and Singireddy Srinivas Reddy — of Mangalhat and Saidabad divisions respectively, belonged to Telugu Desam Party while the third, K. Sahadev Yadav of Kurmaguda division, was of Bharatiya Janata Party. Interrogation of the terror suspects reportedly revealed that a special team from Karnataka was to come to Hyderabad and attack the corporators, officials confirmed.

Recce held

A Bangalore police team picked up Ubed-ur-Rahman, a degree student two days ago and his arrest was formally announced in Bangalore on Saturday. He was alleged to have been roped in to coordinate with the team of attackers. It is said that this team had come to Hyderabad a few months ago and did a recce of Mr. Reddy’s house in Saidabad. His vehicle was also under vigil in order to watch his movements, sources said.

The arrested terror suspects were stated to have nursed a grudge against him as they suspected that he indirectly encouraged youngsters of right-wing groups to create trouble in the communally sensitive Saidabad and surrounding localities.

The other two corporators, Mr. Singh of Mangalhat, who runs a local religious TV channel was arrested several times, whenever communal trouble broke out in the city. Mr. Yadav represents Kurmaguda division which witnessed communal violence this April. The violent clashes between two communities in Kurmaguda following desecration of religious places led to enforcement of curfew in Saidadad and Madannapet station areas. Eventually, four Hindus were arrested on charges of desecrating a temple with an intention to trigger communal violence.
