Six students of the V.R. Siddhartha Engineering College (VRSEC), who were selected as Stanford University Innovation Fellows in spring and fall seasons last year, have acquired yet another feather in their cap.
The six girls, all of them in the third year of engineering, are among eight students selected to attend a four-day Eastern Hemisphere Leadership Meet-up in Dubai from April 25.
These eight students were in competition to make it to the meet-up among over 1800 applicants from across the world. They will now be called ‘Fabs’ who will mentor the new fellows.

The leadership meet is being organised by HassoPlatner Design School of the Stanford University, as part of the University Innovation Fellowship programme. Four of the six students – V. Keerthana Devi, M. Bhavyasree, Nalluri Pujitha and Nikitha Guduru – were inducted as University Innovation Fellows in spring, 2018 by the Stanford University while Anukruthi Atluri and Hari Chandana Atluri were absorbed as fellows in fall, 2018.
Leaders of change
The Stanford Fellowship programme empowers students to become leaders of change in higher education sector. It gives the fellows to lead a global movement for students to gain the right attitude, skills and knowledge needed to navigate a complex world.

Students from across the world are absorbed in this fellowship under which a year-long training is imparted through intensive online sessions and assignments to help them mould into better citizens with an understanding of responsibility and leadership. For six weeks, the fellows try to map the innovation infrastructure and analyse entrepreneurial strategies followed in their respective colleges. The result-driven programme enables the students to apply their knowledge gained in the fellowship to build innovative environment in their own respective institutions.
After completion of the programme, the fellows are expected to show tangible progress in their college and if it is impressive, they get invited to attend the annual cohort, meet other successful fellows and exchange ideas. Two such cohorts have been planned this year and VRSEC students will attend the one at Dubai.
A beaming college principal A.V. Ratna Prasad said the college was proud of the students and their contribution and was looking forward to the students playing a bigger role to develop the college in the days to come. Dean, Student Affairs, B. Panduranga Rao and heads of the departments M. Suneetha (IT), Ch. Srinivas (Civil), P.V.R.I Narasimham (EEE) and K. Sri Rama Krishna (ECE) complimented the girls for their achievement.
