YSR Congress Party leader Y.S. Sharmila on Sunday blamed the Congress for its decision to divide the State as part of its vote bank politics and Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu for having a tacit understanding with the Congress leadership to deny bail to her brother Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy.

Addressing a meeting at busy Jagadamba junction here as part of her Samaikya Shankaravam bus yatra, she said the aim of Congress’ decision on Telangana was to strengthen prospects of making Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister.

“Instead of donning the role of a responsible Leader of Opposition, Mr. Naidu has links with the Congress to detain Jagananna in jail due to fear that he will lead YSRCP to power in Andhra Pradesh,” she said.

At the largely attended meeting, there was a heavy jostling and near exchange of blows between two groups of women which subsequently led to registration of a complaint by the Two Town Police Station.

Naidu told to withdraw letter on 'T'

Ms. Sharmila asked Mr. Naidu to withdraw the letter of support he had given to the UPA Government for formation of Telangana and lampooned him for his double-speak on division during his Atma Gaurava bus yatra. “Why is he rushing to New Delhi to meet national leaders? This is a conspiracy to have confabulations with UPA leaders to deny bail to Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy,” she pointed out.

She also did not spare Union Tourism Minister K. Chiranjeevi for merging his Praja Rajyam Party with the Congress just to prevent the fall of the Congress government in the State due to loss of majority support.

“He has no principles and his hunger for power stands clearly exposed,” the YSRC leader said.

Ms. Sharmila said Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy was also resorting to opportunistic politics and alleged that he was privy to the UPA Government’s plan for bifurcation before AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh made a formal announcement on July 30.

YSRCP leaders Dadi Veerabhadra Rao, Konathala Ramakrisha, Vamsi Krishna, former MLAs R.V.S.K. Rao, M. Prasad Raju, K. Sarveswara Rao, and K. Ravi Babu were present.
