The Andhra Pradesh police said on Monday that they are not investigating a prostitution racket in the United States, allegedly run by an Indian origin couple by luring some Tollywood actors.

Federal agents busted the sex trade a few months ago and the couple have been in their custody since then. The Tollywood actors association discussed the matter in Hyderabad.

The Telangana police are reportedly investigating the background, activities and contacts of the businessman, who has produced a few Telugu films, and his wife in India, a senior police officer said.

“As of now, we did not find any link between anybody in Andhra Pradesh and the prostitution racket. If any investigation officer seeks our help, we will cooperate”, he added.

Nevertheless, speculation is rife over the involvement of some Telugu actors in the racket.
