Seven killed, five hurt as auto-lorry collide in Kadapa district

Seven persons were killed and five others were severely injured when a lorry and a seven-seater autorickshaw collided head-on near Christurajapuram in Duvvur mandal in Kadapa district, on the Kurnool-Chittoor highway, on Wednesday night.

Five persons – Chintakunta Imam Hussain alias Mabu, 62, of Chintakunta, Guvvala Mysoora Reddy, 50, of Singannapalle, Kamatham Venkata Reddy, 65, of Gudipadu, Sannayi Nagachandra, 45, a barber and his son Sannayi Nagendra Prasad, 20 – died on the spot and two others Darapaneni Papaiah, 50, if Chinnasingampalle and Gopireddy Suseela, 46, of Gudipadu, succumbed to injuries en route to Proddatur Government hospital, police said.

The injured persons - Iragamreddy Rajeswari of Manerampalli, who slipped into coma, the autorickshaw driver Jyeshadi Vijaya Kumar of Gudipadu, Shaik Mastan of Chintakunta, Iragamreddy Srikanth Reddy and Gopireddy Hemalatha, both of Gudipadu – were rushed to Proddatur Government hospital. The persons, most of them daily wage workers, boarded an autorickshaw at Duvvur to go to their villages and the three-wheeler collided with a lorry going from Mydukur to Duvvur.

Mydukur DSP Sridhar Rao, Rural circle inspector Nagabhushanam and sub-inspector Khaja Miya inspected the scene of accident. Duvvur police registered a case and shifted the bodies to Proddatur Government hospital for post-mortem.
