The Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill, 2013, did not come up for discussion in both Houses of the legislature on Wednesday due to repeated disruption of the proceedings by the Seemandhra Telugu Desam and YSRC members, though it was listed in the day’s business.
Members from Seemandhra belonging to TDP and YSR Congress encircled the presiding officers’ podium and did not allow functioning of both Houses, the former demanding tabling of all details about the Bill and the latter wanting adoption of a resolution in favour of united AP, before the debate.
On the other hand, members of TRS and TDP members from Telangana, too trooped into the well of the Assembly demanding that the debate on the Bill be taken up right away as decided by the Business Advisory Committee. Members of the Congress, the CPI and the CPI (M) from the region were on their feet pressing for the same demand.

Amid pandemonium, the Assembly could sit for hardly two minutes today. In fact, the YSRC and TDP members from Seemandhra gathered in the well of the House even before the Speaker could occupy his seat at the commencement of the day’s sitting.
Similar scenes were witnessed in the Council forcing Chairman A. Chakrapani to adjourn it for the day.

Going by the mood of the Seemandhra TDP and YSRC members and the fact that the Chief Minister, N. Kiran Kumar Reddy is leading an all-party delegation to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Delhi on Thursday to take up the issue of injustice done to the State by Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal II order, the Assembly is unlikely to go on till December 20, as decided by BAC.
The debate may start in right earnest only on January 3 when it will resume after the Christmas vacation.

“We are prepared for the debate. But the YSRC members are unlikely to allow the discussion to take place,” a Minister said adding it was for the Telangana MLAs, cutting across party lines, to convince their YSR Congress counterparts to allow the debate.
TDP MLA P. Keshav said: “We want information on valuation of total assets, region-wise details on revenue and expenditure, liabilities, employees, public sector undertakings, power installations, utilisation of river water, educational and employment opportunities and their impact on two States after bifurcation.”
